Can you relate to Eldredge and the description of the pace of his life? If so, do you feel like there is nothing that you can do to change the pace of your life or have you done anything to change the pace of your life? Do you use "business" to avoid deeper things? Eldredege says, "If we really wanted to live differently, you would see some sign of that in our choices." Can you relate to this statement?

I think that my recent decision to stop working at be at home with my first son was an example of me trying to make better choices so that I could get into "deeper" things. I have more time now for church, bible studies, and just learning to live the way He would have me live. I have to be careful though, sometimes you can find yourself too busy by overloading on even the simplist of things.
This last week was a wild one for our household - birthday partys, doctor visits, ministry activities, etc. I distinctly remember last Friday, dropping the older two boys off from school after rushing them to get ready in the morning, thinking "I don't like this pace!" Why on earth did I have to rush them to pre-school!?!? We weren't even that late to begin with and I was all over them trying to get them to move faster! I try very hard not to let business get in the way, to stop and check out the ants on the ground with the boys. These are the times that I hear God most clearly, when I am not on super sonic speed. Then there are times like last Friday when I can hear God say..."you don't even know what I was trying to show you just then, you missed it because you were going too fast." I don't think I do this intentionally or in avoidance, but I know that I intentionally need to slow down sometimes!
