What is your response to Eldredge's story about the knife that his son brought home? Can you relate to this story?
When you find yourself in a battle and your prayers don't seem to work, what do you typically do? (Do some "detective work" or give in?) What has been the fruit of that?

I can relate in part to this story. I can't recall anything this detailed, but on occasion the boys have brought home toys that someone else has given them or that they recieved in a happy meal that really bothred me. Sometimes I couldn't quite put my finger on it, sometimes I just thought that they looked "dark". All I knew is that I wanted them out of my house. I used to just sneak those types of things out of the house when the boys were napping, but now I explain to them why I don't like it and that I am sorry, but it has to go in the trash. Now, C just knows that if it looks "mean" then it won't be in the house for long.
I think that I used to easily give up or try to avoid confrontation in a battle. Now, I am becoming more mature and bolder, I guess. There are some times, though, that I admit I am just tired and want things to work out without me having to do battle myself. I usually quickly realize what I am doing and just pray harder, asking God how I can resolve the battle.
