"My Love"

>> Thursday, September 11, 2008

How often do you feel God's love, as an experiential reality? Elderedge encourages us to pray "Lord Jesus, open my eyes to see the way you are showing me your love. Open my ears to hear your words of love to me." and then watch and listen for His response.

I love the way God speaks to each of us in our own language. He knows that what speaks love to me might not speak love to someone else.

One recent example of hearing God's love was the other day. Out of no where, Jaxon said, "mommy you're a cutie pie. I love you."

Other ways I see God's love for me is when I look out at the ocean, or see a sky full of stars, feel the bear hug of my child, walk barefoot through cool thick grass.

This is one area that God has used the writings of John and Staci Eldrege to open my eyes more about His love for me and the special gifts that He sends, especially to me. I knew that He loved me and I knew that certian things around me and in nature were gifts, but I didn't see them as personal gifts until reading "Captivating".

I feel His love for me when I look at the pine trees swaying in the wind from my rocking chair in the living room, watching the boys try to climb a giant tree at our city park, in a Colorado landscape, when I feel the refreshing fall breeze that we have gotten in the last few days, they boys waking up excited to see me after a simple nap, but acting as though they haven't seen me in days.

I, like Kasey, did not know how to look for His love until I read "Captivating." Now I am still so amazed everytime I feel His love. I cannot get over how crisp and cool...and calm our mornings have been. And just last week I took the boys on a road trip to see my grandmother, we left before dawn and I got to see the most beautiful sunrise while the boys were fast asleep in thier carseats. It was the most peaceful moment I have had in such a long time!
