Now Is the Time

Elderedge says, "God gives us dozens of these encounters every day, these opportunities to be honest about what motivates us. What we do with them is up to us." We may tell ourselves "I'll get to that later." but if we are honest, we know that there really is no "later" with some issues. Take a few moments to ask God to show you what you have been putting off and how to deal with it now.

Now, I do have this happen to me all the time. I could really relate to this section in that sometimes I feel the tug of the holy spirit to do or say something. One example would be to say something to a stranger in the store or to perform some random act of kindness. Sometimes I obey and do it instantly. Other times I stall. Maybe I am nervous. Maybe I am questioning if I heard right. Sometimes I just plain old don't "feel like it".
During these times that I stall, things go one of two ways. Sometimes I get myself in gear fast enough to still take the opportunity that God is giving me and act on what He is telling me. Other times I don't and put it off until "next time". Just like Eldrege says, later never comes and the opportunity is missed. There is no telling what God truly had in store if I had obeyed and acted in the moment of the opportunity. The opportunity has passed and will never come again, meaning that both I and no telling how many others have missed out on something wonderful because I stalled.
I think I'm where Kasey is. I feel the prompting of the Holy Spirit to do something or say something to someone, but ignore it. I think "I'll do it next time" or "what will they think if I say that to them." I have recently given into a prompting of the Holy Spirit and I have to say the experience was more than aweseome! I had to overcome the fear of rejection and just obey and I was so blessed. The other great thing about this experience was that my children were with me and were able to witness obedience and blessing.
I just need to remember that experience the next time I try to avoid the Holy Spirit.
Way to go, Julie! I will think of this for a boost of courage the next time I feel a prompting, too! God not only blessed someone else by your obeideince, but you and your children as well! That is awesome!
Julie your comment is inspirational. I continually walk away from opportunities. I pray that I will grow stronger in my desire to grab ahold of such opportunities.
