My prayer life isn't "bad" but it's also not where God wants it to be. I tend to put God and prayer at the bottom of my priorities instead of at the top where He should be. I also spend most of my time praying for my own family. Jesus demonstrates praying for everyone, even people we don't know. Jesus prays with such intensity and passion. He doesn't keep track of the clock to see if he's spent "enough time" with God. When he is praying, he is totally focued on talking with God. I truely believe if my prayer life were more intense and passionate, I would hear from Father more and long to be with Him more. Jesus said, "now, Father, bring me into the glory we shared before the world began." He was eager to be the Father. How eager are we sometimes?
Jesus prayed only to glorify God. His prayers for Himself were only so that God could have the glory. His prayers for his friends (diciples)so that they could be sent into the world. He prayed for people he never met and who were not even born yet. His entire purpose was the glory of God. My prayers often tend to be selfish. I pray for friends and family but rarely do I pray for things with a larger more far reaching purpose.
Jesus is very passionate and focused in his prayer. My prayers could probably get me an ADHD diagnosis right now because they are all over the place. Not only that, but they full of me talking to God and never taking the time to hear what the Father has for me to hear. I need to become less destracted and be still so that I make sure that I am hearing what the Father has for me. How much have I been missing out on because I say my prayers and then am off to the next thing?
