What about this chapter did you relate to or helped you the most? What are some positive points and challenges in your current season of life?

I'm definetely in the toddler years phase right now and I have to agree that even though they have so much energy, this phase if precious. On page 45 she said that "we will enjoy this season much more as we observe what our children do and what they say." I'm often too busy to really observe and listen. Most of the time I get frustrated that they are trying to tell me something while I'm in the middle of something. I was really convicted to slow down, set reasonable goals for the day, and just be with my kids. I can't say that I've done this and stuck to it but I'm trying!

I also loved the section of her journal entry on page 42 where she describes the love her child has for her and how she learned to trust and adore her Heavenly Father through her baby's example. If we think about how much we love our kids, isn't it overwhelming how much more our Father loves us?

I think that I am right there with Julie. I am in the baby-toddler-preschool phase right now and I often forget to stop and just enjoy the moment. There are many chaotic moments in our house right now with different competing sounds and always more than one child trying to tell me something at the same time.

I am working really hard at trying trying to stay calm in these moments and getting them to take turns and have patience with one another so that I don't get caught up in the chaos and miss everything. I also allow the boys to watch a tv show while I shower in the morning, but then the tv goes off until the boys are in bed and Zach and I watch the news together. Instead of TV, we either have nothing playing in the background or music for us to sing and dance to together.

I really like what Yates wrote on page 39 - "He has called me to be exactly where I am, and He will teach me in every season." This really helps me focus more on the moment at hand instead of constantly planning out what I need to do before dinner or when the boys go to bed. I still catch myself doing it, but I am much more aware and am really trying to take one thing at a time so that I don't miss out!
